Here are some guidelines:
1. Physical abuse can never be tolerated and you *must* contact local counselors, including the police, if your your husband is harming you.
2. Verbal abuse is *never* acceptable. Never, ever let your partner insult or disrespect you. Whenever that happens you must immediately let them know it’s unacceptable.
3. If they grow distant or argumentative then you can give them a few weeks to see if it passes, but if it continues past then you must bring the behavior up to them in loving but firm way.
You must own your power, let them know there will be consequences, and stand up for your own needs.
When will you stand up for the love and respect you deserve?
Perhaps you’ve been taught to follow your husband’s lead.
Perhaps you're afraid of your husband’s temper or threats.
Standing up to him can require confidence and courage.
Confidence that you’ll be OK and will always have love.
Courage to risk their anger, their threats, even the relationship itself.
Yes, that’s easier said than done.
But confidence, courage and self-love can be learned.
